Ok it was a problem with my setup:

Strangly I managed to get a DHCP lease but I can't do anything withe this connection, not even ping myself and the connection info shows tons of errors:

$ ifconfig ra0
ra0       Lien encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:11:09:F7:C2:0C
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:23 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:83234 errors:3337 dropped:3337 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:13966 lg file transmission:1000
          RX bytes:5258 (5.1 KiB)  TX bytes:7670926 (7.3 MiB)
          Interruption:82 Adresse de base:0x8000

$ ping 139.124.1.101
PING 139.124.1.101 (139.124.1.101) 56(84) bytes of data.
ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted
ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted
ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted

nor dmesg nor syslog contains anything more regarding ra0 or the driver.

the problem was a running firestarter, the connection was obviously working fine, sorry for the noise, marking the bug as "rejected" as it was not a bug and I don't see a better status.
