Thanks Ben.  I appreciate it.  I would have done it myself eventually, but I've been too busy with other things to get to it.  If it ends up being the IST signature, how do I go about figuring out which ports and such I need?  FWIW, I tried setting the ports as per several websites related to speedstep-smi on thinkpad T20s however, I still got ENODEV.  Other sites claim speedstep-smi "just works" on T20s as long as relaxed_check=1 is set, so it may all be tied into CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEBUG.
