[Bug 39160] swsusp/hibernate started hanging recently

Description:
Somewhere in the last couple of weeks swsusp has started to hang the
machine, requiring a hard power cycle.

System:

Thinkpad T42 with latest Dapper packages.

How to reproduce:

# echo disk > /sys/power/state

Expected behavior:

Suspend to disk

Observed behavior:

Machine becomes completely unresponsive.
