Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Peripherals, such as network interface card and external CDROM-drive,
are not found.

To reproduce:
On Acer Travelmate 3004WTMi (Intel Centrino), with Dapper Flight 6 i386 Install CD-ROM
1) Booted from CD
2) Move cursor to "Install to hard disk"
3) "F6 Other Options": added "noapic" (bug #38839)
What happens:
Computer boots past the "booting the kernel. "
Installer reports: "No common CDROM found".

To bypass, use "irqpool" option (in addition to noapic).

The computer is Acer Travelmate 3000 3004WTMi. CPU is Intel Centrino, Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.00GHz, version 6.13.8. BIOS is Acer 3B07 (06/08/05), has (among others) capability "biosbootspecification". Motherboard is Hummingbird. I used md5sum to check the CDROM iso before burning, and "verify CD" in installer to check that CDROM is good. More on my setup and tests:
