Actual (reproducible) state is 

Ubuntu 6.06 "Dapper Drake" Development Branch \n \l

1. boot system
2. plug in usb mouse
3. if it does not work "$ sudo rmmod usbhid"
4. without removing the mouse "$ sudo modprobe usbhid"
5. the mouse works.
