Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Hi,
I know this is probably a big ask, but I think it would be a great idea if we could figure out a way to pull in the aic94xx SAS driver into the dapper kernel.
This is a SAS chipset present on base-model IBM 1RU servers like the x306m, and is going to be more and more prevalent in the next 12months, not to mention 5 years.
There is a kernel.org git tree here:
http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/jejb/aic94xx-sas-2.6.git;a=summary

I know Dapper seems to support the SAS drivers that the Sun servers use
- the mptsas driver I believe. Flight 5 started working fine on my 4200s
and 4100s. I would love Dapper main to work with these IBMS - the only
other alternative is redhat :(

We have tried unsuccessfully to pull the git tree into the dapper kernel and apply the patch cleanly. Perhaps your kernel gurus might have better luck or advice for how to get Dapper onto one of these boxes.
More information about the driver is here:
http://linux.adaptec.com/sas/index.html
There appears to be some binary drivers for Redhat and Suse here:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&q1=x306m&uid=psg1MIGR-61878&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=en
(these are pre-built binarys for the distro installers to support the boxes at install time).
Obviously, we need to install on these machines so the dapper kernel will need to be SAS-sata enabled.
I realise the hardware is kinda crap - but unfortunately, this is the base model IBM. Lots of em are going to sell :/
