Public bug reported:
Affects: linux-source-2.6.12 linux-image-2.6.12-10-686 (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
Hi,
I dist-upgraded from breezy to dapper.
The latest kernel does not work. Refer to Bug #38287 for details.
The older kernel, which worked well with Breezy is also not working.
When booting with kernel 2.6.12-10-686, I get amessage that says:
starting pcmcia services ... fail
then an Error message that says "Error failed to inset genrtc
(genrtc.ko)"
and also the errors:
"calling hotplug without a hotplug agent defined"
This is on an Acer Travelmate 290 LMi laptop that worked perfectly well
before.
Please let me know if I can provide more information, and also where to
find the information on the system. I would have attached the output of
dmesg and the contents of /var/log/messages, but since the internet is
not working now on that laptop, I cannot do so :(
Thank you.
