[Bug 37703] linux-image-2.6.15 fails to boot on Lifebook B2131

Sun Apr 2 10:56:49 UTC 2006

Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 linux-image-2.6.15-19-386 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When trying to boot from linux-image-2.6.15-19-386, the computer crashes
directly after the 'ok, booting linux' message. There might be a
message (two or three lines) like '..error inserting...' just before the
crash, but it's too brief to see properly.

Here is a picture of the garbled on-screen image I get when I crash:

http://henrik.synth.no/ubuntu/crash-2.6.15.jpg

If I remove 'splash' from the grub boot line, the computer just freezes
after 'ok booting linux'. No more info is displayed.

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook B2131 laptop with xubuntu-
desktop/dapper installed.

Here is the dmesg when booting (succesfully) with the latest 2.6.12
kernel, it might give some clues on my hardware:
