Public bug reported:

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 linux-image-2.6.15-19-amd64-k8 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Last night I decided to upgrade my Breezy install to a Dapper install by
changing the /etc/apt/sources.lst file and running apt-get dist-upgrade.
Amongst other things, this process installed a new kernel for me. I am
using the k8 kernel as it works better with my amd64 CPU. So I decide to
reboot to get this new kernel in affect. This is where my problems
started.

I've not had issues with the Breezy k8 kernel, but the Dapper kernel is
currently unusable. When attempting to boot, I get massive screen
corruption (it actually shows the BIOS screen again, which has cleared
by time grub loads), and nothing else. When attempting to boot into
recovery mode, I get beyond the screen corruption, but the kernel cannot
find my hard drive. It waits for a couple of minutes whilst it tries to
find it, then gives up and drops me into a limited shell. I am unable to
find out why this is happening.

The breezy kernel does still boot, but I loose my nVidia graphical
driver (expected), and networking (not expected). Oddly, I also lost my
USB keyboard as well until I turned on a compatability option in my
BIOS.

I was forced to boot into the AMD64 LiveCD in order to access my Ubuntu
enviroment via chrooting into it.

After posting this bug, I will attach camera shots so this can be
verified. I will also try the generic kernel, to see if that helps.
