Here are the results of my last tests :
- 2.6.12-9 with vga=791 does not work (blank screen), with and without the
splash option
- 2.6.12-9 without vga=791 displays usplash in 640x480
- 2.6.12-8 works with all options (vga=791 and splash), but I do not get
usplash, may be another problem because it used to work ?

I attached the kernel log and the lsmod output for the kernel options that fail
: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-9-k7 root=/dev/hda1 ro quiet splash vga=791
