The second patch may seem more complex, but it is really simple. It adds a new
flag to d_flags, which is set when the dentry has been deleted. This is the
proper way of accomplishing what my first patch tried to do, which was
distinguish in dentry_iput between dcache pruning and a dentry being deleted
because of an unlink. There may still be news to come, so I would wait until
tomorrow to see if anything has changed.
