New acpi-support 0.33 and 1 x reboot 

hdparm tells me:

Advanced power management level: 128 (0x80)


If you want to disable it you will need to explicitly give it a value of 255.
Otherwise it seems that 128 is the default value. 

By the way, I checked the /etc/default/hdparm script and it had no setup.
