So, I got this hang when i was on VT1. It actually seems to be a kernel panic of
some sort. It didn't write the trace that it dumped to disk, however I took a
photo of my screen.

For the purposes of anyone doing text searches, the first few  lines of the call
trace:
recalc_task_prio
snd_intel8x0_interrupt
ipw_irq_tasklet
