Workaround to fix this issue
This bug can be worked around by disabling the on-board ethernet adapter. I
also have a Proliant 1850R and this worked for me using Kubuntu 5.04. I used
the Compaq SmartStart CD. Here is a great reference to installing linux on a
old Compaq Proliant machine :
