------- Additional Comments From uid0 at akl.lt 2005-10-07 23:43 UTC -------
Confirmed, I got daily breezy CD image (2005 Oct 06) and after fresh install on
my ASUS A3500E I got the same on the first boot. The same "Starting hotplug
subsystem..." and nothing then. Booted with init=/bin/sh, moved hotplug boot
scripts out of the way and it rebooted just fine, except with no sound, wireless
and powersaving.

After /etc/init.d/hotplug start I get these proceses:
   31826 pts/0 00:00:00 hotplug
   31840 pts/0 00:00:00 pci.rc
   32243 pts/0 00:00:00 pci.agent
   32267 pts/0 00:00:00 modprobe
and the same hotplug hang (got to kill it from another terminal). However, I've
found something interesting, look what `lsof' shows:
  modprobe 32267 root cwd DIR 3,7 4096 29362970

modprobe 32267 root 0u CHR 136,0 2 /dev/pts/0
modprobe 32267 root 1w CHR 1,3 1285 /dev/null
modprobe 32267 root 2w CHR 1,3 1285 /dev/null
modprobe 32267 root 3uw REG 3,7 36489 286363

It seems, that modprobe is stuck with loading ieee1394 kernel module. Here's my

Can I do something more? It is P1 show stopper! IT HAS TO BE FIXED BEFORE RELEASE!
