I'm not sure why this just worked, but in vmware after performing 'apt-get
dist-upgrade' on the preview installation after booting from the live CD the
installation now boots correctly. The upgrade pulled the same version of the
kernel as I had installed previously. I won't be able to try it on my Proliant
until friday, but if it works in VMware chances are it will work there too.
