Summary: IBM Thinkpad A20p does not wake from suspend-to-ram
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: linux
        AssignedTo: ben.collins at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: trewas at gmail.com
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I installed Ubuntu 5.10 preview to IBM Thinkpad A20p (quite old laptop, a 700mhz
P3). Everything worked fine, including suspend-to-ram. After a couple of rounds
of upgrades, suspend has stopped working. The laptop goes to sleep fine, but
when resuming a black text-screen containing yellow text "Linu" on the top-left
comes visible, and after that nothing happens. The laptop does not respond to
any keypresses or ping. When suspend used to work, the same screen was visible
for some part of a second before the laptop continued to wake up.

After a few tries with various versions of linux-image-* and acpi-* packages the
problem was resolved as a kernel issue: suspend works fine with
linux-image-2.6.12-8-386 (version 2.6.12-8.12 from the preview CD), and fails
with all versions of linux-image-2.6.12-9-386 that I tried (some versions
between -9.14 and -9.21).

If there is any further info needed, please ask.
