Summary: Cannot boot with jfs as root fs
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: linux
        AssignedTo: ben.collins at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: o.persson at gmail.com
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I believe this bug is related to bug #1870 and #7666, but I don't know. I can't
boot with jfs as root fs. I'm using grub and there's no errors reported when I
install the kernel image. I believe it has to be a problem with the initrd image
/ ramdisk somehow?

Running breezy, I can boot using 2.6.10-5-k7 but not when I try to boot any
kernel image above that. For the latest 2.6.12-9-k7 I get;

FATAL: Module jfs not found.
mount: Mounting /dev/hda5 on /root failed: no such device
mount: Mounting /root/dev on /dev/.static/dev failed: no such file or directory
mount: Mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: no such file or directory
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init.

And then I'm presented with busybox. Earlier kernels (>=2.6.10) gave me the
exact same message but "FATAL: Module unknown not found.". It also looks like
both 2.6.10-5 and 2.6.12-9 has jfs compiled as a module, and the jfs.ko exists
on the correct location.
