I am using kernel-2.6.12 but this was also the case with other (earlier) kernels.

If you write to a DVD-RAM with growisofs it says it is writing e.g. with 0.3 or
0.7 speed where it should be writing with 2x or 3x speed.

If I copy files to DVD with cp or nautilus it also takes too long.

I know that DVDs do read after write so 3x is 1.5x in reallity but the transfer
rate is even below that.
