Hello, I have been experiencing major kernel leaks in two machines that would
reach 300Mb used even without X running. I believe that it may be related to
this bug, but I am not sure.

Is there any reason why the fix did not got into the last kernel updates?

I have manully applied the patches to the kernel source and compiled my own kernel
yesterday. I'll keep on eye on those boxes to verify if the bug is gone.

Be the way, how can't you leave out the part of the patch that changes idr.c and
idr.h?
The change in inotify.c simply calls the new function defined on the idr.c/.h
files.
