This bug continues to be present in Ubuntu released kernels (I'm running a fully
up-to-date breezy install).  

I applied Ben's patch to the Ubuntu kernel source and compiled a new kernel
about one month ago.  I can confirm that the patch does fix the problem, and it
doesn't appear to introduce any new problems, at least, it's been rock solid on
my iBook.

Can we get this patch into the official Ubuntu kernel, please?  There are quite
a few people who are using these laptops and experiencing this bug.
