There is a patchset available which improves the thinkpad experience by
providing better protocol support for rarely used touchpads, and fixes some
other issues:

Note that this is not identical to the patchset suggested in bug 2124 which was
rejected since it caused/exposed bugs unseen in unpatches environments.
