I have the same sort of problem with the ide-burner: Plextor PX-716A
with the standard breezy kernel. 
Hoary doesn't seem to have this problem.

After booting the install cd from breezy, during the initialisation of the modules the installer hangs.
Intalling without the dvd-burner being connected it goes well, but after booting the installed system with the dvd-burner 
connected again, the same problem occures.
