Summary: Request to include orinoco usb driver as stock module
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: kernel-package
        AssignedTo: ben.collins at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: martin.bergner at web.de
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

This should actually be a request for enhancement but I can't give it that severity.

I would like to see the orinoco usb driver [0] in the stock kernel. It can be
easily compiled as a module and works in Breezy without a problem. I set up a
Wiki page [1] on how to compile this driver as a module. However, it would be
easier, if I could add it via a module. I have no clue on whether this module
breaks existing drivers.

The driver apparently uses old usb functions, and there will be warnings in the
kernel log. It works nevertheless, and the driver might be easy to repair, but I
don't have a clue about kernel programing so I can't have a look at it.

I would be glad if you could comment on that request, whether it's possible or
not (and why of course :) )
