I have recently found that this problem also occurs with other usb devices. I
have two usb key drives, a disgo 32MB and a samsung ltd 512MB.Both of them work
fine. They just cause sound plackback to garble and go out of step, even when
unmounted but still plugged in.
If removed the playback doesn't correct itself. It needs to be restarted and
then it works fine again.

Incidently, I use a usb mouse (Belkin) and it's never caused this problem.
