Hi,
I did just like you explained in your report, but it seems not to work on my
machine (which is a dell precision 380, of course).
This is what I did:
first attempt:
i tried to install ubuntu 5.10 (both amd64 and x86) and the installer froze at
hotplug.
second attempt:
1)i got myself a ps2 keyboard and mouse and switched of usb in the bios. now i
could install ubuntu normaly. as long as usb is disabled in the bios things work
as expected.
2) i applied your workaround and switched on usb in the bios again.
3) when i use my usb mouse and keyboard ubuntu freezes at hotplug again.
4) when i use an ps2 keyboard and mouse ubuntu starts normaly, but does not
react on any mouse or keyboard input.
Hope this helps you.
friendly
Thom
