A followup: some weeks ago I fixed the ntfsresize segfault (caused by
the uniquely corrupt NTFS during filesystem check) and also implemented
hibernation detection (resizing is always refused in these cases). They
are currently available from the Linux-NTFS project's CVS repository but
we plan to make either a new ntfsprogs 2.0.0 or a 1.9.5 maintanence
release or even both, as time permits.

Much else we can't do from the NTFS side since if the problem wasn't
caused by a hibernated partition (what's also a well-known problem for
FAT partitions) then it was due to a bug/feature in another subsystem
explained earlier.
