$ sudo fdisk -l /dev/hda
Disk /dev/hda: 40.0 GB, 40007761920 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 4864 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1   *           1        1216     9767488+   7  HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2            1217        1228       96390   83  Linux
/dev/hda3            1229        4864    29206170   8e  Linux LVM

hda1 is WinXP, hda2 is /boot.

$ sudo pvscan
  PV /dev/hda3   VG discvg   lvm2 [27.85 GB / 0    free]
  Total: 1 [27.85 GB] / in use: 1 [27.85 GB] / in no VG: 0 [0   ]

$ sudo swapon -s
[produces no output]

Hm, looks like in my excitment of configuring LVM for the first time, I forgot
to create a swap partition... I'll shrink the volume group and create a half
gig swap file shortly. (or is 2XRAM best these days, I can never remember).

Another data point is that the same errors occur when I use APM.
