Sorry to be a pain posting a swag of questions... 
In /etc/modules would adding:

sata_sil 

as the first line fix the problem? 
Or do I need to run modutils or depmod. 
I've never fiddled with these so I'm only groping in the dark here. If there is
any info I can provide to help get the bug resolved please let me know.
