just wanted to let you guys know that the problem still persists with "Linux
cheese 2.6.10-5-686-smp #1 SMP Thu Mar 24 15:12:53 GMT 2005 i686 GNU/Linux"...
no matter whether I use the usb-hdd mentioned above or a normal usb-stick
