I knew this was the answer I'd get ;)

Anyway, the client is the newest version, and works fine with my hand-built
vanilla-2.6.11.4. So it seems some ubuntu-patch for the kernel breaks it, but
there are too many for me to find out which one.

maybe I'll just add a wishlist bug for linux-restricted-modules to add this
module :)
