Summary: ipw2100 WEP broken in linux-image-2.6.12-1-686?
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: linux
AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: alex at verio.net
QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
Hi,
In the original release of the 2.6.12 package my ipw2100 (on Dell D800) worked
without issue. However in 2.6.11.92-1.2 a change log is noted for "Update of
ieee80211 to 1.0.4" and "Fix ipw2100 driver compilation options".
Something here I suspect has broken ipw2100 WEP, while my system correctly loads
the ipw2100 driver and the NIC is visible and even establishes link with my
access points, I can no longer configure a WEP key, and so can no longer access
secured WLANs.
My fix for the last few releases has been to manually re-compile the module
using ipw2100-source package, and overwrite the iee80211 modules and the ipw2100
module, which works fine.
Has anyone else seen this? When someone looks at this perhaps they could also
update the ipw2100 driver to 1.1.0?
Many thanks,
Alex
