Summary: Kernel 2.6.12 powers down computer on boot
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: other
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: linux
        AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: oivind.hoel at gmail.com
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

When booting in breezy 2.6.12-3-686 (or any other 2.6.12 kernel supplied) my
machine simply powers down when or right after hotplug is started. I can't get
around this in any way, so 2.6.12 is completely unusable to me. The 2.6.10
kernel from hoary, on the other hand, works like a charm. Not a single issue on
my system running that kernel.

I realize this is a very dim bug report, and I'd like to see some pointers as to
how I should go about debugging this issue.

For the record, my system is an elitegroup g556e, intel centrino (dothan),
ipw2200, etc, and I have no idea what's going on at the moment.
