I have the same problem on ASUS M6000 series notebook. The behaviour is quite
similar. Reboot after short time during boot-up sequence (after network
interface setup) and the same in recovery mode. I do suspect ACPI implementation
problems since there are some messages (for a split second interval) looking
like ACPI. The acpi=off does not help but the fan is running constantly - looks
like the ACPI thinks it is overheating. The 2.6.10 kernel works perfectly. I've
had the same effect on the 2.6.11 kernel. I'm running breezy.
