But I believe this SCSI-card used to work,
with some Debian-Sarge version I used to have installed
on my box.

Could it be that I have to do some direct configuration
of the card's NVRAM to diable its PnP feature(s)?
May be it came with some proprietary bootable-floppy to do such thing.
But I am not sure, and cannot find such thing.
