Hi Ben,
I'm really sorry to be so lame, but this is a (semi) production machine so I do
not want to risk wrecking it entirely.
I would be happy to have the requested kernel as an option on the Grub menu,
but, after googling around I cannot work out how/where to get & safely install
it from, so that I can remove it and all other dependencies should it not work.
Is there a way I can use synaptic and some (which?) repositories to install it
and then uninstall it should it not work?
Please give me some guidance.
Also, I only have an S-ATA2 drive in the PC and I seem to remember reading
somewhere about S-ATA problems on some newer kernels (can't remember which
versions, or if the bugs have been ironed out yet).
TIA,
Zoltan
