Summary: linux-image-2.6.15-7 and linux-image-2.6.15-8 don't boot
on powerpc
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: powerpc
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: linux
AssignedTo: ben.collins at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: alain.perry at gmail.com
QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
Since I did not find any other bugs mentionning this problem, I'm assuming this
is powerpc specific.
When booting the two latest released kernels for powerpc (this is to say
2.6.15-7 and -8), the boot process begins fine, with the initrd image being
brought up.
The boot is now (since the latest udev upgrade I believe) less verbose than it
was when I first encountered the problem, but I remember the boot hung after a
line saying that "udevplug -Bpci" was called.
2.6.15-6 works fine, and its initrd file is dated from the 5th of december, in
case it can help.
Here are some version numbers, let me know if you need anything else:
