kernel 2.6.12-10-686 hangs at the following point:

* Loading ACPI modules... y... [OK]

I have confirmed that it is the problem by setting noacpi in menu.lst

I do not have the problem in kernel 2.6.12-9-686

My laptop is a Acer Travelmate 4602WLMi
