I did that, and it didn't change a thing, same as before. 
I did a 'lsmod |grep 8139' before and after adding the module to this file, and
the result is the same in both cases :

8139too                23552  0 
8139cp                 18432  0 
mii                     5248  2 8139too,8139cp

looks like 'mii' loads both drivers no matter what ?

In any case, regarless of this workaround (which doen't work), the bug is still
there (there haven't been any kernel update since then, I doubt it would have
cure itself !), so I don't understand why you marked it as fixed/closed, I am
therefore re-opening.
