unfortunately, last week my mobo got zapped by a power surge that got through my surge 
protector. because of that I dont' know if the problem will still exist when I replace it or 
not. Next week I will be replacing the mobo with a new one. will be using another gigabyte mobo, 
but not sure if it has the same sound system configuration as the old one, since it is a newer 
model mobo.
