------- Additional Comments From vincent.trouilliez at modulonet.fr 2005-08-11 00:46 UTC -------
Just in case, 'lspci' returns the following about the NIC :
0000:01:01.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
which does say that it is 'C+' compatible, but if I understand the kernel
message correctly, the 8139cp driver pretends that the card is NOT C+
compatible, hence it then tires the '8139too' driver.
So, either my card is indeed C+ compatible (whatever that means ! ;-) and there
is a problem with 8139cp driver when ti tries to detect the cards capabilities,
or, the driver works fine and it's the card that pretends supportings C+ when it
does not.
Since the card has always worked fine until this kernel update yesterday... I
would think that there is a problem with the detection mechanism of the NIC's
capabilities...
