Ubuntu | kernel-package
Summary: unable to detect SD-Cards / Winbond W83L51xD
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: kernel-package
AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: felixdrueke at web.de
QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
I can't detect SD-Cards on my HP-Pavilion zt3000 Laptop.
The Laptop has a "Winbond W83L51xD id 7112" chip.
There exists a kernel-patch for this chip which is obviously applied in the
Ubuntu-Kernel-image 2.6.10-5-386 that I'm using.
Information about the patch can be found at:
http://projects.drzeus.cx/wbsd/
When I insert a SD-card nothing happens.
I can do "modprobe wbsd" which loads the wbsd-module and mmc_core.
"modprobe mmc_block" correctly loads the mmc_block-module.
dmesg then says:
wbsd: Winbond W83L51xD SD/MMC card interface driver, 1.0
wbsd: Copyright(c) Pierre Ossman
mmc0: W83L51xD id 7112 at 0x248 irq 6 dma 2
However I don't see anything in dmesg/syslog output if I insert
a SD-Card.
I also tried all this with the ubuntu-kernel-image 2.6.11-1.686
which seems to have the same patches applied. It behaves in the same way
as the 2.6.10 kernel.
