Summary: remov. media incorrectly says it's full
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: linux
        AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: won at home.nl
         QAContact: kernel-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I have a 512Mb (or 489 real Mb according to df -h) mp3player. When i plugged it
in it shows 170M free with df -h.
When i copy a 3Mb mp3file to it, i get:
cp: cannot create regular file `loudmusic.mp3': No space left on device

Nautilus gives a similar error.

However when i do a "cat /dev/zero > /media/usbdisk/testfile" it creates the new
file and just keeps filling it up, so appearantly then it seems to not check the
available space and it just works.

Using Ubuntu 5.10 with kernel: 2.6.10-5-k7.
