kern.log booting 2.6.10 waiting a long time
I discovered that if I waited awhile (tens of minutes) the system WILL
completely boot in 2.6.10. This attached kern.log includes a boot from Sunday
April 10, then I had it shut down all day yesterday due to strong
thunderstorms, and then I let it boot completely again today. As you can see
from the timestamps it takes awhile.
Today (April 12) I pressed Alt-SysRq-t ONCE as the system paused on "Loading
Modules."
I am posting this bug from the booted 2.6.10 system, which seems functional,
though it also took GNOME awhile to finish painting the panels and there's the
question "The panel encountered a problem loading
"OAFIID:GNOME_ShowDesktopApplet". Do you want to delete the applet from your
configuration?"
Here are the currently uncommented lines in /etc/modules:
psmouse
mousedev
ide-cd
ide-disk
ide-generic
lp
-------------
I will leave the system booted into 2.6.10 for awhile today (no thunderstorms
predicted for a few hours) so maybe I can answer any other questions that might
come up today.
