Hi everyone,

Here are our notes from reviewing charms on the 11th of Feb. Many thanks to
Cory, Kevin and Andrew.

   -

   apache2
   -

      https://code.launchpad.net/~evarlast/charms/trusty/apache2/trunk/+merge/278220
      -

      Multiple tests still failing (though maybe unrelated to this MP);
      pushed back for comments.
      -

   IBM XL C/C++
   -

      https://bugs.launchpad.net/charms/+bug/1489829
      -

This is a subordinate charm that provides the IBM XL C/C++ compiler
(trial version) to any ppc64le principal charm. Since not many
people have
access to ppc64le hardware, this charm provides a very nice way to get a
development environment setup on a substrate that provides
ppc64le (siteox,
      etc).
      -

Using SiteOx hardware, we bootstrapped a local Juju env, deployed
‘ubuntu’ along with this charm, related them, and ran some tests
with both
the XL C and C++ compilers. Everything looked good, so this
gets a +1 from
      us.

      -

   IBM Java SDK
   -

      https://bugs.launchpad.net/charms/+bug/1477067
      -

This is a layered charm that uses the generic java interface to
provide IBM Java. We have some configuration suggestions, but
want to make
those against the source of this reactive charm (vs the /trunk
branch which
includes everything from ‘charm build’). We requested the author post a
link to the source repo so we can provide a clean merge proposal with our
      suggestions.
      -

   collectd
   -

      https://bugs.launchpad.net/charms/+bug/1538573
      -

The author wanted assistance with amulet testing the charm, so we
reviewed the failing tests and indicated the reasons they were failing.
      -

We also suggested a number of improvements applicable for this charm.
      -

At this point we cannot move forward with this charm.
      -

   tomcat-webapp
   -

      https://bugs.launchpad.net/charms/+bug/1539205
      -

Missing checksum verification, which is a blocker.
      -

Also had some suggestions that might improve the UX, but which aren’t
      blockers.

Thanks,
Konstantinos
