Orchestrating a patch installation scenario in a application sever cluster

Sorry, I don't have any answer to offer but I would really like one as well.
Our ops teams need a nice way to propagate changes to each node (rolling restart for unstable java stack, cache clearing on web services, apache graceful restart...)

Or is the answer: once the api is there, you can code it yourself?
