that's what i thought, which is why i made the suggestion.

"number with a dot" LGTM, even though unfortunately
we don't always end up with a whole number of bytes
(assuming 1G is 1GiB not 1GB).

i don't think that will matter too much in practice unless the
constraints start being used as specifications at some
point in the future.
