Thanks, that sounds really great.  (You would still *allow*
environments.yaml to be used, right?  In case people want to specify
ports etc.)

(Well, the null provider was there, but not as a supported feature)

This is okay with me.  I'm very much in favour of deferring features

I'm a little surprised you referred to that bug, since this won't fix
that bug.  The bug about this particular issue is
