Looking at this now; I'll have to go through the feature freeze
exception process.
Assuming that it works out OK for raring then this would be the
version that I will request backporting to Quantal and Precise.
NB Robie fixed up the arm support; we still don't run the full
testsuite during build for ARM but a basic functional check appeared
to work OK. I just uploaded to raring.
