That means every single provider has to reimplement it. Let's keep it
in config.New for now and see how it goes.

I apologize to come across as a bit blunt in this case, but the rest
is just naming. We've spent about 6h straight debating about this
issue and that's not an overstatement, so I'm really keen on seeing
something reasonable getting in by now rather than bikeshedding
further.
